With a natural affinity for art since she was a young child, Shoam developed her observational drawing skills and progressed into self-taught portraiture by the time she was in her teenage years. Practicing portraiture for over a decade, this interest extended across multiple mediums, from graphite, to colored pencils, markers, pens, and on to digital painting. During her university studies, Shoam developed her portraiture within traditional paint mediums.

Graduating with an undergraduate degree in Art from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2022, Shoam is currently practicing in California. She remains dedicated to realistic and observational work. Her current inspiration is expanding portraiture past a superficial depiction and into a multi-faceted examination of a person, from a variety of viewpoints, across periods of time, and with careful intentions — to create a depth that extends beyond just recognizability.
